About the University of New Orleans Foundation

The University of New Orleans Foundation, a registered nonprofit corporation in Louisiana, was established in 1984 with the mission of serving the University of New Orleans by raising private sector funds for the advancement of the University. The University of New Orleans Foundation is classified as a public charity by the Internal Revenue Service.

In 1958, Louisiana State University in New Orleans was conceived as a liberal arts college for commuting students, and by 1961, the University of New Orleans became a full four-year institution.

Today, the University of New Orleans, a member of the University of Louisiana System, is known to be the premier urban research university of the State of Louisiana. The University provides essential support for the educational, economic, cultural and social well-being of the culturally rich and diverse New Orleans metropolitan area and is committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for our students.
